As the saying goes...

For a fun little activity, our class discussed some common sayings and their moenings.  Students then created their own endings to some common expressions. Try and guess which one might have been written by your child!

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't lead the water to the horse.

Don't bite the hand that says "bite me".

Never underestimate the power of friendship.

No news is boring.

Never underestimate the power of invisibility.

Don't bite the hand that has a disease.

Don't bite the hand that is very dirty.

Happy is the bride who I married.

If at first you don't succeed, you get an "N".

No news is not fun for grown ups.

If at first you don't succeed, quit forever.

A penny saved is useless.

Don't bite the hand that slaps.

Vacation Budget Project

Students are working on planning a family vacation for the summer.  Their budget is $5,000 and must include gas, lodging, tourist attractions and all food for the trip, which is to be a minimum of 5 days long.

Here are some helpful sites the kids have used at school to do some background research for this project:

Trip Advisor

Map Quest
I highly recommend using this site for the directions- it will calculate the gas prices for the trip for you!  I hadn't realized that as I created the directions, but I will be modeling how to use mapquest for the students today. Don't forget you have to plan for the round trip!

Expedia

Top 25 Travel Destinations in the USA

Hope you enjoy working on this project with your child!
